Ever since he burst through the scene with Better Days almost three years ago, Prince Kaybee has set the dance floor and radio ablaze with consistency year after year. Two albums in, numerous awards and countless hit singles, the latest Best Male winner at the South African Music Awards has managed to maintain his signature sound in spite of the sensational birth of Gqom as the sound of the future.
According to Media Monitor, an agency that provides music airplay data, with 6 760 spins on 99 radio stations, Prince Kaybee’s Charlotte was the most played song on radio last year. Charlotte, the lead single off of his sophomore offering I AM MUSIC, featured Lady Zamar and garnered over 5 million views on youtube for its visuals.
His latest single, Club Controller, a collabo with Lasoulmates featuring Zanda and TNS, has given the maestro DJ producer another radio smash. Club Controller is the most played song on South African radio this year. Notwithstanding its unconventional and late release, the song essentially owned the summer and dance floors across the country.
Club Controller is another cap in Prince Kaybee’s long list of smash hits, carving a lucrative lane for himself with his distinctive sound. There seems to be no stopping Kaybee’s midas touch.
