Kwesta Dropping Major Features In The Coming Weeks

Its been 7 years since Kwesta dropped his debut studio album Special Rekwest under Slikour’s Buttabing back in September 2010. Since then, he has featured on multiple hit singles, established his own record label Rap Lyf, and dropped two more albums, the latest being the more successful DaKAR II featuring hit singles Nomayini, N’gud, Mayibabo and Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe. Prior to the success of his third offering, Kwesta was widely considered as one of the most underrated rappers for the better part of his career; 5 South African Music Awards later, he’s the king of hip hop!

Kwesta recently dropped his latest single, Spirit, featuring Nigerian-born American rapper Wale. Although many criticized Wale’s verse as disconnected, it is still a massive feat for a South African rapper to feature an American rapper of that stature. The Spirit Chaser-sampled track is a colossal summer hit in spite of Wale’s bland verse.

The K1 God  has since announced three more features to drop in the coming weeks as he continues work on his new album, DaKAR III.

First off, Kwesta starts off the new year by dropping a Rick Ross feature on 31st December. Its an unconventional time to drop new music but when you’re at the top, there’s nothing you can’t do. It’ll be interesting to see what direction Kwesta took on this one, on a classic rap beat, bar for bar, this might be anyone’s game.

He then plans to drop a feature with Canadian rapper Tory Lanez two months later, together with the strong MMG features, this could potentially open global doors for his third studio album.

Finally, Kwesta X Davido is also coming our way in the next couple of weeks. With the massive year Davido has had with hit singles If and Fall; the feature should bode well for Kwesta’s ambitions of conquering Africa. It should also be refreshing to hear what he can do on Afrobeats with the self-proclaimed ‘Biggest Star In Africa’.

By the looks of things, we should expect a massive 2018 for Kwesta.
